Confidential advice

One of the best choices you can make when faced with an unplanned pregnancy is to seek advice in a safe, confidential setting. Alpha Center staff is trained and experienced in helping you face those challenges. Whether you need one appointment or many, we will be here as you make your decision and beyond.

Pregnancy Testing

The Alpha Center uses the Precious Feet Pregnancy Test, a professional quality test that is as sensitive as those used in doctor's offices and women's clinics. It is considerably more sensitive than most home pregnancy tests and can show a positive result as early as 7-10 days after conception. More about our free pregnancy tests...

Ultrasounds

Earn While You Learn

Pregnancy and parenting are filled with uncertainty. This program helps to answer many of the questions you have and ease your anxiety. Through regular lessons that include DVD's and worksheets, you'll learn important and interesting information about your pregnancy and your baby. Our staff will put together a lesson plan that is unique to your needs. Best of all, you'll work with a client advocate who will help you better understand the challenges and joys that lie ahead for you and your baby.

With each Earn While You Learn lesson completed, you earn credits that you can use to "purchase" for baby and maternity supplies, such as clothes, blankets, diapers, formula — even new baby cribs and mattresses.

Referrals for medical care, adoption & other assistance

The Alpha Center is not a medical facility, but we can refer you to doctors who are accepting new patients. We also have a list of community referrals, such as community health centers, food banks, social services agencies, shelters, faith-based ministries, etc.

The Alpha Center is unable to provide any financial assistance.

You may be wondering about adoption. This often seems the most difficult choice to make. The idea of carrying a child for nine months, only to place him or her in the care of another family, may seem emotionally impossible. The Alpha Center is not an adoption agency, but we can refer you to area agencies and offer our guidance through the process. You control the decision to consider adoption. Adoption is a wonderful gift and an act of love that allows many birth parents to give their child a family, stability and a better chance for a bright future — things the birth parents currently may not be able to offer.

Factual information about abortion alternatives, risks, & procedures

Facing an unplanned pregnancy is hard. Fear, confusion, and anger are just some of the feelings that you may be experiencing. Before you decide, you deserve to know the facts. Abortion is a legal choice, but that does not make it easy. You may feel pressure into an abortion decision by your partner, friends or family, financial problems, or career or educational goals. Remember, no person will be required to live with the consequences of this decision as much as you will. An Alpha Center client advocate will help you examine your options. Spiritual hope and healing after abortion

If you decide to have an abortion, or if you have had an abortion, we can help you deal with possible emotional complications. Some women experience strong negative emotions after abortion; this can occur within days of the abortion or after many years. Symptoms of Post-Abortion Stress (PAS) include guilt, anger, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, anniversary grief, flashbacks of abortion, sexual dysfunction, relationship problems, eating disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, and psychological reactions.
